Turdus’s FREEDRIVE technology, based on almost 25 years of experience, is a technology that makes it possible to manufacture single-use chemical alcohol tests that are able to offer simultaneously:

For decades, most chemical alcohol tests were equipped with a balloon, necessary for measuring the exact volume of exhaled air to ensure accurate results.  So much so that the term “balloon” was used to describe a chemical alcohol test!
However old habits need to change and it’s time to take care of the environment. Everyone of us needs to know that to measure the volume of air, a thermo chromic indicator measuring just a few millimeters correctly positioned on an alcohol test can replace a plastic balloon, which is particularly harmful to the environment.
This technology is not new to Turdus, pioneers in this field: even prior to the latest evolution of our product, which led us to obtaining the NF mark, it was used successfully by tens of millions in all parts of the world for over 25 years.

Let’s resume the points that make our alcohol test a truly new concept, far ahead of the competition:

Simplicity of use

With the Freedrive alcohol test, the many operations involved in using an alcohol test with balloon are reduced thanks to the removal of the balloon.
Indeed, no need to inflate a balloon and subsequently transfer the air into the alcohol test tube. You simply blow directly into the test tube and read the result without involving an additional component, which once again is harmful to the environment.

Extremely compact

No balloon, therefore less weight, less clutter in the pocket, the handbag, the vehicle’s storage compartment. Different types of packaging are available, of which some in particular are not at all bulky. Same applies to the various displays options proposed vis-à-vis the necessary space in the stores. Less weight also means lower transportation costs.

Hygiene and safety guaranteed to the user

A mouth piece that distances the tube from the mouth of the user to facilitate the reading of the indicator.

A non-return valve preventing any accidental return (acid vapor, reagent) thus completely eliminating all risks to the user, even the most minimal.

Protection of the environment / Fight against pollution

One cannot put a single-use alcohol test on the market without seeking the best way to protect the environment and fight pollution. It is with this objective that we developed our new Freedrive 2 without balloon :

• Removal of the balloon, a non-recyclable and non-biodegradable material,
• Use of a mouth piece made of 100% biodegradable material,
• Use of a paper leaflet from a sustainably managed forest printed by a certified “green” printer.

With our alcohol test you can thus control your blood alcohol level whilst at the same time taking care to reduce pollution of the environment. You will avoid the disposal of tens of tons of non-biodegradable plastic balloons in our countryside that would take several hundred years to disappear.

We note that the European legislation, adopted  by France, is likely to prohibit the sale of single-use plastics from the beginning of 2021. Turdus, in this context, has already focused the next stage of its R & D on the impact of its packaging. This will consist of following and using new packaging technologies (mono-component Flowpack for example) to achieve a total biodegradability of our product

Road safety is a priority for all. To help you combat drinking and driving, Turdus has integrated the cost factor into its product right from the design stage.
Indeed, the Freedrive alcohol test has been designed with the aim of guaranteeing the lowest possible selling price whilst offering a higher level of technical and metrological quality than the competition.
This objective resulted in the removal of one of the expensive components, the plastic balloon. Turdus is therefore working behind the scenes to provide safety and security to the maximum amount of people.
